If you ask us which corner of Snowshoe feels the most like its own little world, it is Silver Creek. It is a separate hill from the main Village, with its own lodge, its own lifts, and its own reason to exist after dark: night skiing. When Silver Creek Opening Day rolls around, that whole side of the mountain wakes up at once, and it is one of our favorite days of the season.
What Silver Creek Opening Day actually is
Silver Creek Opening Day means the lights come on. Daytime skiing on Silver Creek's wide, forgiving slopes is one thing, but night skiing is the real draw here. The Coca-Cola Tube Park glows under its own lights, the terrain park is freshly built and ready for laps, and a rail jam kicks off the season for anyone who wants to show off a little. Snowshoe plans this for mid-December, weather permitting, so keep an eye on the resort's own site for the exact date as it gets closer.
This is not the steep, expert side of the mountain. Silver Creek is the family side, with gentler terrain that makes it a natural fit for first-timers, younger skiers, or anyone who would rather tube than carve. It is also the only place at Snowshoe with a tube park, which on its own is worth the trip for a family with kids who do not ski yet.
Night skiing, explained
There is something different about skiing under lights. The crowds thin out, the snow sets up firm and fast, and Silver Creek's slope lights up the whole hill. It is a shorter session than a full day on the mountain, which makes it perfect for an evening out after a day of other plans, or a second lap after an afternoon on the main mountain. Pair it with the terrain park, which sits right there on Silver Creek too, for anyone working on rails and jumps.

The tube park
Snowshoe's only tube park is at Silver Creek, and it does not require any ski experience at all. It is a flat-out fun way to spend an evening with the whole family, lit up after dark right alongside the night skiing. If you have non-skiers in your group, or little ones not quite ready for lessons, this is where they will want to spend their time.
The lodge pools and staying right here
Silver Creek Lodge itself is worth a mention on its own. Downstairs from the condos is a restaurant and bar, indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tubs, a sauna, and a gym. After a night of skiing or tubing, that is exactly where you want to end up, no car required.
Our 1208 Silver Creek condo sits right in the middle of all of it. It is ski in and ski out on the Silver Creek run itself, so the night skiing, the terrain park, and the tube park are all right outside the door. The condo sleeps six, with a queen bed in each of its two bedrooms and a memory-foam pull-out in the living room, making it a comfortable, cozy base for a smaller group or a couple of families splitting beds.
The free shuttle to the Village
One of the best things about staying at Silver Creek is that you never have to choose between the two sides of the mountain. The lodge runs a free, all-day shuttle straight to the main Village, so dinner at one of the Village restaurants, a walk through the shops, or a different lift entirely is always within easy reach. You can ski and tube all day at Silver Creek, then shuttle over for the evening without ever moving your car.
Why this corner of the mountain is worth planning around
Silver Creek draws a different crowd than the Village side, a little quieter, a little more focused on families and first-timers, and the night skiing and tube park give it a rhythm all its own. If your group has a mix of skill levels, or little ones who want tubing more than turns, basing yourselves here solves a lot of logistics at once. Add in the shared pool and hot tubs right in the building, and you have a stay built for after-dark fun as much as daytime runs.
Our Silver Creek condo rentals page has the full rundown of what ski-in, ski-out really means at this building, and the Silver Creek Opening Day event page is the place to watch for the official date once the resort confirms it.
