2026-2027 Snowshoe Winter Event Schedule

Snowshoe just released the full 2026-2027 winter schedule, so here is every date in one place. Save this one, because the best weekends go fast once everybody sees it.

November 25 | Official Opening Day The first chair of the season is the best chair of the season. Fresh corduroy, a Village full of people who have been waiting since last March, and bragging rights for whoever gets up there first. Wax the boards and dig the goggles out now. Want the full rundown for the big day? Read our Opening Day guide. *Weather permitting, but I would still start planning.

November 26-27 | 11th Annual Snowshoe Turkey Shoot Eleven years running and still going strong. It is a goofy, feel good mountain tradition over Thanksgiving weekend, whether you are a seasoned shooter or just trying it for the first time, and it always puts a smile on my face.

November 27 | Turkey Trek 5k Too much stuffing at Thanksgiving dinner? Walk it off or run it off with a mountaintop 5k the morning after. Costumes are encouraged, trail shoes are smart, and the whole family can do this one together.

November 28 | Annual Village Tree Lighting One of my favorite nights of the year on the mountain. The whole Village comes together, the lights come on, and you have a hot cocoa in your hand while the season officially starts. Bring the family, this is the kind of night the kids remember.

December 6 | West Virginia Ski Free Calling all my fellow Mountain State folks. Show a West Virginia ID and you ski or ride free all day. Whether you live right here in Pocahontas County or you are driving over from Randolph or Webster County, grab your gear and come show everybody how it is done. Bring a state or government issued photo ID to redeem your ticket.

December 12 | Winter Brewfest Finish your last run and head straight to Shavers Center for local brews, good company, and the kind of apres that makes a winter weekend here. This one always draws a crowd, so do not show up late.

December 18 | Silver Creek Opening Day Silver Creek is back, which means night skiing under the stars, wide open family runs, and the rope tow in Mountaineer Park for the little ones. If you have kids learning this year, this is your side of the mountain. *Weather permitting.

December 19 | Burton's 50th Demo Event Fifty years of Burton, celebrated right here at Snowshoe. Try the newest Burton boards, bindings, and Step On boots for free, then stick around for the after party and the activations around the mountain. Whether you want to test new gear or just hang out with other riders, do not skip this one.

December 23 to December 31 | Holiday Celebrations A full week of lights, cheer, and holiday magic on top of the mountain. This week flies by every single year and it is one of the first stretches to book up, so if a holiday trip is on your mind, lock it in early.

December 24 | Village Christmas Celebration A Christmas Eve party right in the Village. Bring the family, wear your ugliest sweater, and get one last wish in to Santa before his big night. Grab a photo, a cocoa, a cookie, and a candy cane while you are at it.

December 31 | New Year's Eve Parties Multiple parties all over the mountain and something for every kind of crew, from families with little ones to a proper grown up night out. Champagne in ski boots, a swim under the stars, and 2027 rung in the right way. One of the busiest nights of the whole season.

January 30-31 | SARA (Southern Alpine Racing Association) Slalom and giant slalom gate racing for US Ski and Snowboard members. Tight gates, fast turns, and racers who have trained all season for this. A great one to watch from the side of the course if you love competitive skiing.

February 1 | Cupp Run Challenge The original Snowshoe race. A giant slalom straight down the legendary Western Territory, with bragging rights and burning quads guaranteed. There is something special about racing the same run that generations of skiers have raced before you.

February 27 | Red Bull Rivals The next generation of freestyle talent goes head to head on Lower Ballhooter. This collegiate slopestyle contest brings some of the region's best skiers and snowboarders battling for the podium and school pride. Expect big air and seriously technical rails.

February 28 | Snowshoe Open Slopestyle Competition The day after Red Bull Rivals, everybody gets a shot at a real cash purse on that same custom Lower Ballhooter course built by the Mountaineer Terrain Parks crew. This back to back weekend of park action is one of the highlights of the late season.

March 5 | Skiercross/Boardercross Cross Course Access Your chance to run the Cross Course before race weekend. No coaching on this one, but you can book a private session with the Snowshoe Ski and Ride School if you want a head start. Fun to run even if you are not racing.

March 6-7 | USASA Boardercross and Skiercross The Appalachian Series comes to Snowshoe for head to head racing on the Cross Course: banked turns, rollers, and jumps, four racers at a time. It gets loud, so come cheer.

March 8-14 | Kids Ski Free Week Kids 12 and under ski free all week with the purchase of an adult lift ticket. If you have been waiting for the right week to bring the whole family, this is it. Spring snow is usually soft and forgiving too, which is perfect for kids still building confidence.

March 13-14 | College Weekend Skiing, riding, live entertainment, and the whole Village buzzing from first chair to late night. Round up your friends for this one.

March 20 | Spring Fling Pond Skim & Music Live music, cold drinks, DJ sets, and the famous pond skim. Costumes are encouraged, wipeouts are celebrated, and the more creative the outfit the better. This is the let loose, end of winter party everybody talks about.

March 21 | West Virginia Ski Free Day One more free day for West Virginia locals before the season wraps. Bring your ID, bring your crew, and close it out right. A state or government issued photo ID is required to redeem your ticket.

March 21 | Snowshoe Closing Day The last day of the 2026-2027 season. Always a little bittersweet, but it just means we get to do it all over again next winter.
