Split Rock Pools

Split Rock Pools is the heated indoor-outdoor pool in the heart of the Snowshoe Village, with a waterslide, a hot tub, and a sauna, open in winter and summer. It is not free for our guests; you pay a day rate at the door or use a Summer Fun Pass, and both are worth it on a rain day, a cold day, or the hour before dinner. Here is how to get in step by step, what it costs, whether the pass pays off, and the rules people ask us about.
Getting in
No, and we would rather tell you now than have you find out at the desk. Free entry is for guests who book lodging through the resort's own reservations. Everyone else, including our guests, pays a day rate at the door or uses a Fun Pass, which bundles the pool with the lake, the lift ride, and the other summer activities. The day rate is worth it. A two-hour swim on a wet afternoon rescues a whole day.
Prices and hours are set by the resort and change by season. Shoulder-season hours are not always published, so call 1-877-441-4386 in April, May, and November.
Walk over
Split Rock sits beside Allegheny Springs, about two minutes from the Village center and five from the Summit condos. No car, no shuttle.
Pay at the desk, or show a Fun Pass
Our guests pay the day rate per person at the door, or show a Summer Fun Pass in summer. There is no resort room key to swipe, and nobody needs one.
Change on site
Locker rooms inside. Bring towels from your bag, not the good ones from the house, or rent them there.
Check the hours first
Hours are the resort's and shift by season; shoulder-season hours are not always published. The link below is the live one, and in April, May, and November a phone call is the honest answer.
What it costs
The pool day rate was $15 per person when we last checked. The Summer Fun Pass bundles the pool with Shavers Lake, the watercraft, the lift ride, and the rest of the summer list. Put in your group and it does the arithmetic.
In winter there is no pass; everyone pays the day rate. The full list of what the pass covers is on things to do.

Doing the lake or the lift too? The pass usually pays for itself the same day, so buy it for those days and pay the pool day rate on the others.

Inside
Heated indoor and outdoor pool
One pool that runs from inside the building out under the sky, warm enough to swim in when it is snowing.
The waterslide
The reason kids ask to go back. Height rules apply, and it runs when lifeguards are on.
Hot tub and sauna
Adults recover here while the kids wear themselves out. The view from the outdoor section looks down the Basin.
Locker rooms and towels
Change on site. Bring your own towels or rent them, and leave the good ones at the house.
When we go
Winter: the hour after the lifts close, when your legs are done and dinner is not for a while. Summer: rainy afternoons and the day after a big Bike Park day. Any season: the evening before you leave, so the kids sleep on the drive home. Split Rock sits between the Village shops and the Summit path, so our Summit guests walk over in five minutes.
Bring
Swimsuits, flip-flops, and a dry layer for the walk back. Goggles for the slide line.
Skip
The busiest hour is right after the lifts close on holiday weekends. Go at opening or after 6pm.
Kids
The shallow indoor end is the toddler zone. The slide has a height minimum, so check it before you promise.
Alternatives
Split Rock closed? The Rink and the Adventure Playground at Mountain Lodge are open all year, and our own hot tubs never close.
If Split Rock is closed
Timbers 3 and Timbers 5 have private hot tubs on the deck, 305 Soaring Eagle and 1208 Silver Creek share their lodge's tubs and pools, and every home has a bath deep enough to matter after a cold day. Rain days also have the Rink and the Adventure Playground at Mountain Lodge, open all year, and the drives off the mountain.

No, Split Rock Pools is only free for guests who book their lodging directly through Snowshoe's own reservations system. Since you're staying with us, it's $15/day per person, or covered if you buy a Fun Pass ($39-$49/day depending on the date). It's worth it, indoor/outdoor heated pool, a waterslide, hot tub, and a sauna, right in the Village.
Bring your own or rent them at the desk. Please leave the house towels at the house; they do not survive the pool deck.

The resort does not publish the number consistently, so check at the desk before you promise a small child the slide.
The rules on ages for the hot tub and sauna are the resort's and posted on site. Ask at the desk when you pay, and check before you go if it decides the trip.
Our own homes with private hot tubs have no desk to ask.
