If you love a good apres scene, mark this one down. Winter Brewfest at Snowshoe is a Saturday built for finishing your last run and walking straight into a crowd of local brews and good company. It is one of our favorite nights on the mountain, and it has never made it onto the journal until now, so let's fix that.
What Winter Brewfest actually is
Winter Brewfest happens at Shavers Center, right in the heart of the resort. The idea is simple: you ski or ride all day, then head over for real apres instead of just another bar night. Local breweries pour, the Village gets loud in the best way, and it is the kind of event where everyone ends up talking to everyone.
This one always draws a crowd. If you are planning to go, do not show up late. The good spots fill in fast, and the energy builds quickly once the lifts close for the day.
This year's date is December 12, 2026, a Saturday, which is the only date we have for the 2026-27 season. Winter Brewfest typically lands on a Saturday in mid December, so if you are reading this closer to next season and do not see a new date yet, check the event page below. We will update it as soon as the resort announces it.
Who this event suits
Winter Brewfest is built for adults who want to make the most of an apres afternoon without leaving the mountain. It suits:
- Groups who already ski or ride together and want one more reason to stay out after the lifts close
- Couples or friends looking for a lower-key night than a full Village bar crawl
- Anyone who likes trying local beer in a mountain setting instead of a taproom back home
- Guests already booked for a December trip who want an easy addition to the weekend
It is not a quiet night. If you are bringing little ones, this one is more of an adults' evening out, best paired with a babysitter back at the house or a grandparent on hand.
How to make a weekend of it
The best way to enjoy Winter Brewfest is to stop thinking about the drive altogether. Stay in the Village, walk home, and let the night happen at its own pace. That is really the whole plan.
Here is how we would build the weekend around it:
- Friday: Arrive, settle into the house, and get a full day of skiing in Saturday before Brewfest starts.
- Saturday: Ski or ride all day, then walk straight from the slopes to Shavers Center for the festival. No need to get back in a car.
- Sunday: Sleep in, grab one more morning on the hill, and head home without the rush.
December is still early season, so conditions can vary. Check the mountain report before you head up each day so you know what is open and what the weather looks like at the summit.

Staying close enough to walk
The whole point of this event is that you should not need a car afterward. Our homes near the Village and the Timbers neighborhood put you a short walk or a quick shuttle ride from Shavers Center, so a local brew does not mean planning a designated driver.
If you want a cabin with its own private hot tub to come home to afterward, both Timbers 3 and Timbers 5 fit the bill, and they are an easy trip from the Village by shuttle. If you would rather be right in the mix with a short walk to everything, our Summit condos and 305 Soaring Eagle sit close to the action too.
What else is happening that weekend
Mid December is a lively stretch at Snowshoe. Silver Creek Opening Day and the Burton 50th Demo Event both land nearby on the calendar this season, so depending on your exact dates, you might catch more than one event in a single trip. Keep an eye on the full events calendar as you plan, since dates and details get added as the season gets closer.
A few tips before you go
- Get to Shavers Center early. This event draws a crowd and the best spots go fast.
- Dress in layers. You will be moving from the slopes straight into an outdoor gathering, and December evenings at elevation cool off quickly.
- Walk, don't drive, afterward. That is the whole appeal of staying close to the Village for this one.
- Check the mountain report that morning so you know lift status and conditions before you head out to ski.
Plan your stay
Winter Brewfest is one of those nights that makes a December trip to Snowshoe feel complete: a full day on the mountain, then an evening of local beer and good company without ever needing your car. Pair it with an early-season ski day and you have a weekend worth planning around.
Take a look at our homes to find the right fit for your group, whether that is a cabin with a private hot tub or a condo a short walk from the Village. When you are ready, book direct and we will have everything ready for you, including a dose of advice on the rest of your Snowshoe weekend.
