Snowshoe has twenty-plus places to eat on the mountain, from slopeside waffles and wood-fired pizza to a reservation-only steakhouse, and our three Summit condos are a five-minute walk from the Village core. Below is every place we send guests, on the mountain first, then the drives that are worth it, with a filter for the kind of night you are having. Hours shrink in April, May, and November, so check before you drive down.

Slatyfork sits at the bottom of the access road. Marlinton is the county seat 30 to 40 minutes south. Elkins is the bigger town an hour north. All three are open when the resort is not.

Cooking in
Every home has a full kitchen, most have a grill
Big groups eat in more than out. Wildcat Grocery on the mountain covers the basics and the beer, Dollar General at the base covers pantry staples, and the Marlinton IGA or the Elkins stores are the big shop. Stock up on the way in, the last stretch has nothing. The groceries and gas page puts the stops in order for your route, the getting-here page maps the last one, and if you would rather not cook at all, the private chefs page lists who will drive up.

Do we need dinner reservations at Snowshoe?
For 10 Prime and Appalachia Kitchen, yes, always. For Al Dente on a holiday week, yes. Everywhere else in the Village is walk-in.
The wait on a Saturday in February can run an hour at the Junction, so eat early or late, or send one person ahead to put a name in.
What is open to eat during the spring and fall closures?
Fewer places than you would like. Some Village restaurants run reduced hours in April, May, and November, others close outright, and hours are not always published.
Wildcat Grocery usually stays open for basics, the towns down the hill keep normal hours, and every one of our homes has a full kitchen and a grill. Check before you go, and plan the first dinner before you climb.
Is there food delivery at Snowshoe?
Not that we know of. There is no delivery app service on the mountain as of our last check.
The workaround is takeout: Cheat Mountain Pizza and The Pizza Slice both travel well, and Old Spruce fills growlers for the hot tub. Wildcat Grocery has a deli for lunches.
