Private means yours, on your own deck, with nobody else's towel on the rail. Two of our homes have one: Timbers 3, a modern log cabin with a six-seat hot tub and a soaker tub inside, and Timbers 5, three levels of cabin with the hot tub on the deck, heated mats underfoot so nobody is tiptoeing across ice, and the grill going next to it. Both are whole houses in the Timbers, a quiet ten-home neighborhood on South Mountain, a short walk from the Soaring Eagle Express.

The lodge condos have hot tubs too, just shared ones. 305 Soaring Eagle's building has three hot tubs, a sauna, and a hearth room. Silver Creek Lodge below 1208 has indoor and outdoor heated pools and hot tubs. They are good, and on a cold night they are busy. The three Summit condos have no hot tub, and Split Rock Pools in the Village is the swim there.

If the hot tub is the reason for the trip, book a Timbers cabin. If ski-in matters more and a shared tub after is fine, the lodge condos are the honest answer.

Prices, where shown, are live from our calendars and include cleaning and tax. Book direct and skip the platform booking fee, about 10% on most stays.

What to know

  • Both cabins take dogs, the only two of our homes that do, and any other pet is welcome too, same fee, just tell us what it is. The pet fee is $250 per stay and every dog is approved in writing before arrival.
  • The hot tubs are serviced between stays. If the water is not right when you arrive, text us; it is the first thing we check.
  • Timbers 3 has two labeled parking spaces; Timbers 5 has a 1.5-car garage plus three more in the driveway. Overflow parking is at Top of the World, $20 a day.
  • Walk-to-lift, not ski-in. About two minutes to the Soaring Eagle Express.

Which Snowshoe rentals have a private hot tub?

Timbers 3 and Timbers 5, our two log cabins in the Timbers neighborhood on South Mountain. Each has its own hot tub on its own deck. 305 Soaring Eagle and 1208 Silver Creek share their buildings' hot tubs, and the Summit condos have none.

Is the hot tub open in winter?

Yes, year-round. Timbers 5 has heated mats on the deck so the walk out is not an ice rink. Bring a robe and shoes you can slip on; it is the one thing guests forget.

Are the Timbers cabins close to the slopes?

About a two-minute walk to the Soaring Eagle Express. Ski until lunch, come back to the fire, go out again. They are not ski-in ski-out; that is 305 Soaring Eagle and 1208 Silver Creek.
