Presidents' Day is the safe bet for a real powder trip. February is Snowshoe's second-snowiest month and the base is at its deepest, so the whole mountain is open, the Western Territory included. It is also the busiest family weekend of the winter, which changes the advice: the closer you sleep to the lift, the more you ski.

305 Soaring Eagle and 1208 Silver Creek are ski-in ski-out, and on this weekend that is the difference between first chair and a shuttle line. Timbers 3 and Timbers 5 are a two-minute walk to the Soaring Eagle Express with a private hot tub waiting at the end of the day. The Summit condos are a five-minute walk to the Village, or the free shuttle when it is snowing sideways.

Book the home first, then lift tickets online, then a dinner or two at the reservation-first places. That is the order things run out. And plan to arrive in daylight; the last hour is two-lane mountain road, and in February it is snowing up top when it is raining at the base.

Do lift tickets sell out on Presidents' Day?

They can. The resort sells them online and holiday weekends are the ones that hit the cap. Book the home, then buy the tickets on the resort's site before you drive up.
