What to do at Snowshoe if there is no snow

In ski season, on a thin week

• Ski the groomers. Snowmaking covers the whole mountain, so the main runs stay open when the woods do not.
• The Coca-Cola Tube Park at Silver Creek, when it is running, and night skiing under the lights.
• Split Rock Pools in the Village: heated indoor and outdoor pool, waterslide, and hot tub.
• The Spa, the Rink, and a long lunch in the Village.

When the lifts are off

The resort closes twice a year: early April to about May 21, and mid-October to Thanksgiving week. Most Village restaurants and shops close with it. What stays open: the Rink and Adventure Playground at Mountain Lodge, Raven Golf Club from mid-April, and everything off the mountain.

• Cass Scenic Railroad, about 25 minutes away, runs trains from late spring through October.
• Green Bank Observatory and the state parks, waterfalls, and overlooks around the mountain.
• Hiking, fly fishing, and the Greenbrier River Trail, which starts at Cass.
• The hot tub and the fireplace. Some weeks that is the whole plan, and it is a good one.

About weather and your stay

Our policies have no weather exception: we do not refund or discount a stay for too little snow or too much. If a storm or a dry spell would change your plans, travel insurance bought when you book is the way to protect the trip.
