A chef who will drive up the mountain usually needs two to four weeks of notice.

The grocery stop on your route

    Kroger or Walmart Supercenter, Elkins

    Your last full grocery store. About 1 hour 15 minutes before the mountain. Do the big shop here.

    Dollar General, Slaty Fork

    The most real store near the base for pantry staples, paper goods, and snacks.

    Par Mar, Slaty Fork

    Fill the tank here. There is no gas on the mountain. Ice, firewood, beer, and forgotten basics, open late.

    Wildcat Grocery, the Village

    A short drive or shuttle ride from your home. Basics and top-ups at resort prices.

Arrive and settle in

    Silver Creek Opening Day is on

    Mid-December, weather permitting. Silver Creek is the family side of the mountain, and its opening day means night skiing is back. Times and tickets on the event page.

  2. On the drive

    Grocery stop before the mountain: Kroger or Walmart in Elkins from the north, Marlinton IGA from the south

    The full groceries are in Marlinton (30 to 40 minutes) or Elkins (about an hour), so stock up on the way in.

  3. Check in

    Settle in at your home

    Your door code and arrival notes come in your check-in message and your Guest Lounge once you book.

  4. Evening

    Dinner at Foxfire Grille, in the Village

    Casual mountain-lodge dining, burgers, steaks, seafood, full bar. Hours vary by season, call ahead. First night, no cooking after the drive.

Day 2 · Saturday, December 19

Tubing at Silver Creek

  1. Today

    Burton's 50th Demo Event is on

    A Saturday in mid December. Fifty years of Burton, celebrated at Snowshoe. Times and tickets on the event page.

  2. Late morning

    Tubing at the Coca-Cola Tube Park, Silver Creek

    A 6-story, 8-lane tubing hill with 2-hour sessions. Sessions sell out on busy weekends, so book a time slot ahead. Check hours before you go.

  3. Evening

    Dinner is open tonight

    Cook in, or pick from the where-to-eat guide; it carries the hours we have for the Village kitchens.

Checkout day

  1. Morning

    Pack up and run the checkout list

    It is short, and it is in your Guest Lounge once you book. Leave it the way you found it and the return code follows.

  2. On the way down

    One last stop: coffee or lunch in Marlinton or Elkins

    Heading south: The Dirt Bean in Marlinton (Mon-Tue 7am-3pm, Wed-Sat 7am-7pm, closed Sun). Heading north: Beander's Restaurant & Tavern in Elkins (Kitchen: Mon-Thu 11am-10pm, Fri-Sat 12pm-12am; closed Sun).
